Honorable Mention Metta Gallery exhibit 2026

Visions of Self 2026 is the sixth annual international juried exhibition specifically for female artists, produced by the “Women’s Voices, Women’s Vision” group.

This year’s show features 63 artists from around the globe, presenting 108 works that explore the deeply personal realms of self-portraiture, environment, and emotional states of being. The exhibition acts as a profound digital narrative where artists utilize various media—from traditional oil painting and photography to tactile textile arts—to analyze identity, social expectations, and the complexities of the female experience.

The exhibition debuted on March 1st to coincide with Women’s History Month, emphasizing themes of resilience, memory, and authenticity.

Notable 2026 jurors included Boise-based artist and educator Michele Chmielewski and multi-media artist Carolynne Gamble. While the primary showcase is hosted digitally at MettaGallery.com, the 2026 cycle included a physical reception on March 14 at The Gallery at Oakhurst Spirits, allowing the regional community to engage directly with the curated works.

Yosemite Sierra Artists (YSA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the arts in the Sierra Nevada foothills and the gateway communities of Yosemite National Park. The group fosters a vibrant creative network through initiatives like the “Visions of Self” international show, local workshops, and public art projects like the Community Art Banners. In March 2026, the group celebrated the first anniversary of its brick-and-mortar gallery in Oakhurst, California, which provides a permanent space for over 30 local artists to exhibit their work without traditional display fees.
