Each piece in this collection of small works contains a memory of a day – a day spent somewhere, actually doing something.
The use of reclaimed materials gives the piece a strong sense of texture and history. The various fabrics—including coarse weave, plush, striped silk, and smooth cotton or synthetic material—are visibly appliquéd onto the background. The borders of the layered shapes are defined by visible, contrasting, hand-stitched running or blanket stitches in a light thread, emphasizing the constructed nature of the collage and highlighting the unique contour of each fabric piece.
